The Crisis Response aims to:


  • To provide 24-hour confidential, easy to access, local, Aboriginal crisis phone support to people in distress or people worried about someone in their family. Responders include non-aboriginal people to provide consumers with alternative support if required.


  • To provide, where necessary, a second layer of response from a local support network for people in crisis, made up of key strong senior Aboriginal people from within each family/clan group. These people agree to be contacted by and to work with the Crisis Support Line volunteers and or sessional workers when a person in their extended family is in crisis. The person concerned would consent to this form of direct help.


  • To motivate and support people in crisis to engage with relevant service providers In Halls Creek.


  • To increase the level of mental health and wellbeing awareness in Halls Creek and to activate a community watch model that provides a network of skilled support people across every family.
